Create With Stamping Friends Saturday Blog Hop

Zig-Zag Folds!

Welcome to our Saturday Blog Hop at Create With Stamping Friends.  Our design team has fabulous cards to show you this week for our Zig Zag theme. I love how mine turned out. Take a peek:

I used designer paper so that the folds wouldn’t be so thick and bulky. Here are a few more photos and then I’ll show you how to create one of your own:

You can see that I slid off the belly-band to reveal the card folds and the photo below shows you the card in the open position:

I also fussy-cut a few of the birds from the designer paper. Here are the Stampin’ Up! Products I used:

  • Stamps: Winterly Tree Tops
  • Inks: VersaMark
  • Designer Paper: Nests Of Winter
  • Cardstock: Early Espresso, Basic White
  • Tools & Accessories: Nested Essential Dies, Cherry Cobbler & Pearl Adhesive-Backed Berries, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Tear & Tape, Basics Embossing Powders, Heat Tool

Card Recipe:

  • Step 1: Start with two pieces of Nests Of Winter Designer Paper to measure 10 x 5-1/2. Flip one over to the reverse side as shown in photo 1. Score both at 2″, 4″ & 6.
  • Step 2: Fold on the score lines and when you flip the papers to the same side, they should look like photo 2.
  • Step 3: Use a pencil to add a mark on the 2″ scored section down to 3-1/4. Cut from the pencil line diagonally to the 4″ score line. See photo 3.
  • Step 4: Add Tear & Tape to the largest section of one of the designer papers. Remove the backing of the Tear & Tape and press the 2nd piece of designer over the 1st piece. This forms your card base as shown in the center photo. The two 4″ sections are now on top of each other when pressed in place.
  • Step 5: Fold on the score lines to achieve the card base shape.

Inside Layers:

  • Layer 1: Early Espresso Cardstock 5 x 3-3/4. Glue to the inside center panel.
  • Layer 2: Basic White Cardstock 4-3/4 x 3-1/2. Glue to the inside over the Early Espresso layer.
  • Bird: Cut 1 bird from the designer paper with Paper Snips and glue to the bottom right corner.

Belly Band:

  • Layer 1: Early Espresso Cardstock 10-1/2 x 3/4. Wrap around the card to fold the ends over, making sure it’s loose enough to slide on and off. Press each fold and glue the ends on top of each other.
  • Layer 2: Cut the designer paper with the Nested Essential Dies 3-7/8″ long. Glue over the belly band cardstock with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Layer 3: Cut Early Espresso Cardstock with the Nested Essential Dies 3-3/8″ long. Stamp the sentiment with VersaMark Ink. Sprinkle with white embossing powder. Melt the powder with the Heat Tool. GLue to designer paper flat.
  • Bird: Cut 1 bird from the designer paper with Paper Snips and glue to the right side of the belly band.
  • Bling: Add Cherry Cobbler & Pearl Adhesive-Backed Berries around the sentiment.
  • Place the belly band around the card.

    What a gorgeous card!

Question: It looks like there may actually be three score lines on each piece at 2″, 4″, 6″. Then the diagonal is cut from the 6″ down to the 3 1/4″ mark?

    Thank you for sharing!!

Yes that is correct Nanette. I forgot to add the 6″ measurement. Thanks for alerting me!
