Welcome to a Saturday Blog Hop at Create with Connie & Mary. Can you believe we are in the month of December? This week the theme for our blog hop is a small Christmas Favor or Gift. I opted to use a candy cane for my favor and dress up a pouch for it. See here:
I also opted to use non-traditional Christmas colors by coordinating the colors of my products to the colors of the candy cane that I picked. I even made me own colored ribbon and I’ll explain a little later in my post. Here are some close-up photos of the detail in my layers:
Did you notice the pretty ribbon in the last two photos? I actually colored the Silver 3/8″ Metallic-Edge Ribbon with my Stampin’ Blends. I used the Light Blackberry Bliss Blends to achieve this beautiful color for my beautiful ribbon. Want to create my Candy Cane Pouch? Here’s how;
- Pouch: Flirty Flamingo Cardstock 3″ x 10-1/2″ Score at 4″. On the 4″ part of the cardstock, add Tear & Tape to the two sides. Fold on the score line and press in place to form the pouch. Use the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch to the very top of the pouch and trim the two sides at angle.
- Layer #2: Whisper White Cardstock 2-3/4″ x 3-3/4″. Glue to the front of the pouch.
- Layer #3: Country Lane Designer Paper 3″ x 8″. Wrap the designer paper around the whole pouch and pinch the sides. Remove and fold on the pinched creases. Set aside.
- Layer #4: Using a scrap of Cherry Cobbler Cardstock and the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch, punch two strips of cardstock. Trim to fit the front of the designer paper and glue to the underside. Glue designer paper to the pouch, overlapping the ends on the back.
- Sentiment: Stamp the sentiment from the Merry Christmas To All stamp set using Rich Razzleberry Ink on a piece of Whisper White Cardstock that measures 1/2″ x 3″. Glue to the front of the pouch about 1-1/2″ from the bottom.
- Die-cut sentiment: Using the Merry Christmas Thinlits Dies, cut the M-e-r-r-y using Silver Foil Sheets. Glue above the stamped sentiment on the pouch.
- Ribbon: Color two strips of the Silver Metallic-Edge Ribbon with the Light Blackberry Bliss Blends Marker. Insert the candy cane into the pouch and tie one piece of the ribbon around the candy cane and into the punched hole. Tie into a bow. Wrap a 2nd piece of ribbon around the bottom of the pouch and tie into a bow.
- Snowflakes: Using the Blizzard Thinlits Dies, cut with a scrap of Whisper White Cardstock. Glue one snowflake above the ribbon on the bottom of the pouch. Glue three snowflakes around the candy candy by tucking some underneath.
- Bling: Add Rhinestone Jewels to the center of each snowflake.
