Winter Birthday!

Happy Saturday to you and welcome to our Saturday Blog Hop at Create with Connie & Mary! The theme this week had me a little stumped but I finally figured it out. For my Winter Birthday card, I incorporated the Awesome Otters, thinking they are swimming in the icy waters of winter.
After I had my card completed though, I wondered if otters hibernated so I had to go do some research. This is what I found: Otters are semiaquatic mammals that do not hibernate when winter comes around. They are primarily nocturnal, but become more diurnal in winter, meaning they are active during the day and sleep at night.
Phew! I’m safe to keep going with my winter-themed birthday card. Aren’t the otter images cute? And you can earn this stamp set for free during Sale-Bration.

I used the Picture This Dies to cut out the rectangular holes on the designer paper and added the cute images on Basic White Cardstock. Such a cute card with an otter peeking through each hole. I colored with Stampin’ Blends Markers which I will list at the end of my post for you.
Card Recipe:
- Card Base: Petal Pink Cardstock 11″ x 4-1/4″. Score and fold at 5-1/2″.
- Layer #2: Basic White Cardstock 5-1/4″ x 4″. Set aside.
- Layer #2: Sunshine & Rainbows Designer Paper 5″ x 3-3/4″. Cut with the Picture This Dies.
- Place the designer paper over the white cardstock layer and lightly trace the bottom of each rectangle with a pencil. Stamp each otter image using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Color with Stampin’ Blends Markers. Erase the pencil lines. Glue white layer to card base.
- Glue the designer paper over the white layer using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Sentiment: Stamp the sentiment on a piece of Petal Pink Pink Cardstock that measures 2″ x 1/2″ using Tuxedo Black Memento Ink. Glue to the bottom left, adding a Stampin’ Dimensional on the right end.
- Hats: Stamp (2) of the hat image and color with Stampin’ Blends Markers. Hand-cut and glue to the top right.
