Bringing In The New Year!

Welcome to our Saturday Blog Hop at Create With Connie & Mary and Happy New Year! Here’s to a better year ahead! How are you celebrating? I traveled yesterday to pick up my 14-year old granddaughter Kaitlynn for about 4 days before school starts back up. She wanted to spend some time with Grammy. I know we are going to have fun as we always do!

For my “bringing in the new year” project, I used the Whiskey Business stamp set. I loved coloring all of the images. Don’t they look good enough to drink?

I used Stampin’ Blends Markers to color the “liquid” and then added blue highlights to make the glass and ice cubes look real:

Stampin’ Up! Products Used:

  • Stamps: Whiskey Business
  • Inks: VersaMark
  • Stampin’ Blends: Pool Party, So Saffron, Calypso Coral
  • Cardstock: Basic Black, Basic White, Smoky Slate
  • Tools & Accessories: Matte Black Dots, Stitched Rectangles Dies, Basics Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Paper Snips, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Misc: Post-It Notes

Card Recipe:

  • Card Base: Smoky Slate Cardstock 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″. Score and fold at 4-1/4″.
  • Layer #2: Basic Black Cardstock cut with the Stitched Rectangles Dies 4-3/4″ x 3-3/8″. Glue to card front at an angle.
  • Layer #3: Basic White Cardstock cut with the Stitched Rectangles Dies 4-3/8″ x 3″. Follow these steps:
    • Stamp the whiskey bottle image on a post-it note with any ink color and hand-cut on the outside lines. This will be used as a mask.
    • Stamp the whiskey bottle on the white cardstock at the left and at an angle with VersaMark Ink. Sprinkle with Black Embossing Powder and melt with the heat tool.
    • Place the whiskey bottle mask over the stamped image.
    • Stamp a 2nd whiskey bottle slightly over the first bottle and at an opposite angle with VersaMark Ink. Sprinkle with Black Embossing Powder and melt with the heat tool.
    • Stamp (2) whiskey glasses on a scrap piece of Basic White Cardstock with VersaMark Ink. Sprinkle with Black Embossing Powder on both images and melt with the heat tool. Hand-cut both whiskey glasses.
    • Color all 4 images using the Stampin’ Blends Markers.
    • Glue the whiskey glasses in place with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
    • Glue white layer to card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Sentiment: Stamp the sentiment on a scrap piece of Smoky Slate Cardstock with VersaMark Ink. Sprinkle with Black Embossing Powder and melt with the heat tool. Cut close to the lettering into two sections. Glue to card front with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Bling: Add Black Matte Dots to the background.
