A Great Technique To Make An Image Pop On A Card!

Hello and Good Morning! I hope you had a great weekend. Finally, after 7 days of rain, we had a sunny day so I was able to get some of my yardwork done. You know, when it rains that many days in a row, it’s quite depressing. It’s amazing how sunshine truly does brighten a day!

Look closely at the stamped and white-embossed image on my card. Notice that I have a little bit of outlining and how much impact it has on making that image want to pop right off the card. It’s a little trick of the eye and it works!

If you would like to try this out for yourself, here’s how:

• Card Base: Moody Mauve Cardstock 11″ x 4-1/4″. Score and fold at 5-1/2″.
• Layer 2: Coastal Cabana Cardstock 5-1/4″ x 4″. Emboss with the Countryside Blossoms Embossing Folder. Glue to card front.
• Layer 3: Bright & Beautiful Designer Paper 4-1/4″ x 3″. Glue to the right and at an angle.
• Layer 4: Bubble Bath Cardstock 4-1/4″ x 3″. Follow these steps:
  • Stamp the image from the Softly Sketched stamp set with VersaMark Ink.
  • Sprinkle with white embossing powder.
  • Melt the powder with the Heat Tool.
  • Use the Bubble Bath Stampin’ Write Marker to trace around parts of the image where the shadows would lay with the fine tip end. (you can use my photo as a guide. I did not trace around the whole image)
  • Wrap Sweet Sorbet Metallic Woven Ribbon around the cardstock twice and tie into a bow on the left. Position about 1″ from the bottom.
  • Glue to card front at an angle towards the left with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
• Sentiment: Stamp the sentiment with Moody Mauve Ink on Lemon Lolly Cardstock. Cut with the Radiating Stitched Dies and glue over the ribbon.
• Bling: Add Iridescent Pearl Jewels to the background around the stamped image.
