Starry Sky Colored Leaves Anyone?
I love to mix things up and use non-traditional colors on my cards. I do that a lot! Today is no exception. I used Starry Sky Ink for my leaf from the Soft Seedlings stamp set. Why? Because I can. As stampers, we are allowed to use any color we want when creating. Is there such a thing as purple leaves? Of course there are. Some house plants or perennials would have purple on them.
I also wanted to add 3D helicopters on the card front. I have maple trees on our property, so I am very familiar with helicopter seeds. They are called this due to the way they spin when falling off of the trees. As children, we used to gather them up in our hands and throw them up in the air to make them spin. Did you ever do that?
You can see that I stamped some helicopters along the edges of the white layer and I also stamped three of them on scrap Basic White Cardstock and hand-cut. I glued them in place using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. These are my layers:
- Card Base: Soft Suede Cardstock 11″ x 4-1/4″. Score and fold at 5-1/2″.
- Layer #2: In Color Designer Paper 5-1/4″ x 4″. Glue to card base at an angle.
- Layer #3: Basic White Cardstock 4-3/4″ x 3-1/2″. Follow these steps:
- Stamp the leaf image in the center using Starry Sky Ink.
- Stamp three helicopters using Soft Suede Ink on Basic White Cardstock. Hand-cut all three and glue as shown using Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Stamp the two sentiments using Starry Sky Ink.
- Stamp more helicopter images along the sides and bottom using Soft Suede Ink.
- Create a bow with the Starry Sky Metallic Woven Ribbon. Glue to the leaf using Mini Glue Dots.
- Glue cardstock to card front at an opposite angle to the designer paper.
