An Open Gate Fence Card Fold!
Hi everyone and welcome to Day 3 of my Open Fence Card Folds. I hope you liked the two previous cards! Today’s card looks like the gate portion of a fence and I love how the pool party peeks through. I continue to use the Pansy Patch stamp set & Pansy Dies on all of my cards.
Because the Pool Party Cardstock peeks through the front, I added a layer of Basic White Cardstock to the back instead. You wouldn’t want any writing or inside sentiments showing through the gate on the front. You can add a sentiment to the white layer along with a few words and signature.
Here’s the how-to for today’s card and what I used:
- Stamps: Pansy Patch
- Inks: Highland Heather
- Cardstock: Highland Heather, Granny Apple Green, Copper Clay, Pool Party, Basic White
- Tools & Accessories: Pansy Dies, Brushed Brass Butterflies, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Paper Snips, Multipurpose Glue
Photo 1:
- Cardbase is Pool Party Cardstock 5-1/2″ x 4-3/4″. Score at 1/2″ and fold.
- Cut (6) Copper Clay Cardstock strips 5-1/2″ x 1/2″.
- Cut (3) Copper Clay Cardstock strips 4-1/8″ x 1/2″.
Photo 2:
- Glue one of the longer Copper Clay Cardstock strips to the small flap of the card base.
Photo 3:
- Cut one end on each of the shorter Copper Clay Cardstock as shown on the photo.
Photo 4:
- Glue the three shorter Copper Clay Cardstock strips to the small flap on the card base. One on the top, bottom and center. Even with the left side edge.
Photo 5:
- Flip the card base over and add a drop of adhesive to the ends of each banner.
- Line up and lay one of the longer strips on the opposite end and sides.
- Press the banner end of the card base closed so it glues down on the single strip.
Photo 6:
- Your card base should now look like the photo.
Photo 7:
- Flip the card front open.
- Cut a scrap piece of cardstock to measure 1/4″ wide. Use this as a template and place up against one of the outside strips on the card base.
- Place a long Copper Clay Cardstock strip against the template and glue in place.
- Remove the template cardstock strip.
- Repeat for all (4) Copper Clay Cardstock strips.
Photo 8:
- The Gate Card should now look like the photo.
Photo 9: Add Pansies, leaves and butterflies as follows:
- Stamp the sentiment on a Basic White Cardstock strip 3-1/2″ x 1/2″. Trim both ends into a banner shape and glue with Stampin’ Dimensionals above the center gate strip.
- Create (1) large pansy as follows:
- Use the (3) large pansy petals base dies and Basic White Cardstock. Cut one of each for each flower.
- Use the (3) slim pansy petal layers with Highland Heather Cardstock. Cut one of each for each flower. Glue to each petal.
- Layer and glue the (3) petals together to form the flower.
- Cut (1) flower center with Copper Clay Cardstock and glue to the center of the flower.
- Cut (1) small flower center with Granny Apple Green Cardstock and glue to the center of the flower.
- Glue the flower to the gate at the bottom left with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Create (4) pansy buds and leaves as follows:
- Stems: (4) with Granny Apple Green Cardstock
- Petals (middle): (4) with Basic White Cardstock and glue to the stems
- Petals (back): (4) with Highland Heather Cardstock and glue to the back of the white petals
- Leaves: (4) with Granny Apple Green Cardstock
- Tuck and glue the flowers and leaves with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the gate.
- Add Brushed Brass Butterflies to the fence and one to a leaf.
