Mason Ring Decor Anyone?

January 10, 2025 1 Comment

Delightful Wishes, Floral Delight Designer Paper & Floral & Gingham Vellum Specialty Paper!

I like to can my own veggies, meat & fruits. I also like knowing what is in my food so I grow most of my own veggies during the summer months. With that being said, I have a lot of canning jars, lids & rings. Because I have so many, I dug out one of the larger rings and decided to create a hanging decor with it.

In the photo above, I have it hanging on one of my house plants. You could also hang it on a wall or a knob from a cabinet. Here are more photos:

I opted not to add a sentiment and I’ll show you the steps I used. First, here are the supplies:

  • Stamps: Delightful Wishes
  • Inks: Daffodil Delight, Old Olive
  • Cardstock: Thick Basic White, Basic White, Old Olive, Early Espresso
  • Designer Paper: Floral Delight, Floral & Gingham Vellum Specialty
  • Accessories: Daffodil Delight ⅛” Satin Ribbon, Tiny Bee Trinkets, Deckled Circles Dies, Mini Glue Dots, Liquid Glue, Paper Piercer, Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Misc: Large Mason Jar Ring
  • Step 1: Using #8 Deckled Circles Dies (3-1/4″), cut (1) with Thick Basic White Cardstock and (1) with the gingham pattern from the Floral & Gingham Vellum Specialty. Glue both circles together.
  • Step 2: Using a Paper Piercer and Mini Glue Dots, pick up one glue dot with the piercer, scrunch the glue dot into a blob and place it to the inside of the ring. Repeat about every inch around the whole ring.
  • Step 3: Press the two-layered circle over the Mini Glue Dots with the gingham facing the outside of the ring.
  • Step 4: Cut (1) circle using the #7 Deckled Circles Dies (3-5/8″) with Thick Basic White Cardstock.
  • Step 5: Using Old Olive Cardstock and the 2 leaf dies, cut a bunch of leaves (I cut 12 of each). Add liquid glue to the edge of the circle and start gluing the leaves. Glue them all very close to the edge so they stick out beyond the edge and overlap them to cover all of the white cardstock.
  • Step 6: Add liquid glue to the bottom edge of the mason ring.
  • Step 7: Place the ring over the leaf layer and add something heavy on top. Allow to set for about 30 minutes. Once you remove the punch, the 2nd photo shows what your project looks like at this point.
  • Step 8: Cut a piece of Daffodil Delight ⅛” Satin Ribbon 8″ long and tie a knot with the two ends. Add a scrunched up Mini Glue Dot closest to the diecut leaves on top of the ring. Press the knot over the glue dots.
  • Step 9: Cut a piece of Floral Delight Designer Paper to measure 12 x 1/2. Glue around the whole side of the ring and overlap the ends. Trim excess.
  • Step 10: Cut (1) branch with the die and Early Espresso Cardstock. Cut off the small end as shown in the photo.
  • Step 11: Add liquid glue to the branch and gently tuck under the lid and gently press in place.
  • Step 12: Stamp the cluster of flowers on Basic White Cardstock. Stamp the detail image over the flowers with Old Olive Ink. Cut the flowers with the die and glue the flowers in place gently, with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals.
  • Step 13: Tie a bow with the ribbon and cut the ends at an angle. Glue to the bottom of the branch on the ring with Mini Glue Dots.
  • Step 14: Using 3 Tiny Bee Trinkets, place one at a time over Mini Glue Dots. Shape the excess glue dot on the outside of the bee towards the center (it’s a little too large). Gently place the bee on the vellum. Repeat 3 times.

I would love to see what you come up with using some of these steps. The possibilities are endless!
