Business Changes and Business Decisions not My Choice!

Hi Everyone,

Just letting you know why I may be absent from my blog some days. I know some of you always look forward to my daily posts. Most of my customers know what’s going on. A few weeks ago, I received a huge IRS income tax bill for 2020. To make a very long story short, the IRS is now requiring all credit card companies, Paypal, Ebay, Etsy, etc. to report all payments collected as income.

What did this do to me? For me I was reported by Paypal. I set up Stampin’ Up! events, collect payments for those events through Paypal and then order the Stampin’ Up! products for those events. What Paypal reported on a 1099 has already been reported by Stampin’ Up! so it’s been reported twice on my income. I have to spend my time cleaning up this mess with my accountant. I will have to do the same for my 2021 income tax. I have since then stopped accepting any type of online payment.

And there’s more. My hubby passed away in June and because I turned 60 in November, I started drawing his social security as a widow. In doing so, I can only make so much in income until the age of 65, so I have had to change my business so I don’t go over in income. If I go over, I have to give social security back 50% of what I received. Dave worked hard for his social security and I don’t want that to happen. I’m hoping I will not have to resign as a demonstrator.

I have lost my joy for stamping because I have so much to take care of and decisions to make so you may not see me on my blog daily like I usually post. Stay tuned!

Debbie, I’m so sorry to hear about all of these complications in your life. I think you’ve been through enough! I’ll say an extra prayer for you that all goes well, and you can continue with your business, even if it’s a smaller scale. I and many others would miss you if you stopped completely. Take care of yourself.

    Debbie
I am so sorry you are going through this. Please know I’m praying for you! I had trouble back in 2008 I was collecting unemployment and working for my sister’s company putting boxes together. With the help of my sister and two daughter we got it done in 1 hour. When you are collecting unemployment you cannot work more than one day. So because it was only taking an hour a day I put down I was only working one day. Someone I was working for from the job I was collecting from reported me and I had to pay back the entire amount of unemployment payments I received or I would go to jail. Do my husband and I took out a home equity loan to pay it back only to find out we now have a mortgage payment which was paid off 10 years before. So please God forbid you have a lot to pay do a payment plan. Hope this helps!!

Debbie, my sincere expression of sympathy for the passing of your husband and struggling with all the financial issues. It can be so difficult not to be stressed and worried but with God’s help (which sometimes seems a little slow at times!) you will find your way. One day at a time and don’t be so hard on yourself.

Debbie I will put you in my prayers. I wonder if IRS is doing the same to Big Corporations. What a shame. You will get through this ordeal. You are in God’s hands and your hubby’s as well.

Debbie, you are in my prayers that you are able to get this straightened out. I can relate somewhat to what you are going through. I lost my husband very suddenly last September and unfortunately he didn’t have a will so I am having to go through probate which is taking forever. The IRS is holding up my refund because when I filed married filing jointly I didn’t know that I had to state that he was deceased and they sent me a form that I had to fill out and send back and they said I would get my refund in 6-8 weeks! We normally got our refund in about 2 weeks. I had to hire a lawyer because he had several classic cars that put the value of the estate higher and the Register of Wills couldn’t help me. The vehicles were in his name only so I’ve had to jump through hoops before I was able to sell them. And I’ll probably have to pay tax on the money I received from the sales. It’s just been a total nightmare and I wouldn’t wish this on anyone.

Debbie, we will certainly miss you. Why it is the little guy, the working guy, that always gets picked on we will never know, but God will show you the Way and shine down on you with answers.
I have added you to my daily prayer list.
    Stamp happy!
