Stepping It Up With Two Cards!
We are having some Stepping-It-Up fun this month for our September Control Freaks monthly blog hop. You may have arrived here after visiting with Wendy Weixler. Did you love her stepped up versions? For mine I used the Painted Pheasants stamp set and the Rustic Harvest Designer Paper. Take a peek:
You can see how I started out with a Clean & Simple card for my first one:
And for my stepped-up version, I added some diecuts, designer paper and a little bit more water coloring:
Here are the two card recipes:
Clean & Simple Card:
- Card Base: Cajun Craze Cardstock 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″. Score and fold at 4-1/4″.
- Layer #2: Basic White Cardstock 5″ x 3-3/4″. Follow these steps:
- Stamp the pheasant image using Early Espresso Ink, in the center.
- Stamp the sentiment above the pheasant using Cajun Craze Ink.
- Stamp the branch image repeatedly using Old Olive Ink and some without reinking for a lighter color.
- Use a Blender Pen to add Calypso Coral Ink to the pheasant and at the bottom
- Glue to card front.
Stepped-Up Card:
- Card Base: Cajun Craze Cardstock 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″. Score and fold at 4-1/4″.
- Layer #2: Rustic Harvest Designer Paper 5-1/4″ x 4″. Stamp the leaf image from the top right corner diagonally to the center using Cajun Craze Ink. Glue to card base.
- Layer #3: Rustic Harvest Designer Paper 5-1/4″ x 1″. Glue to card front about 1″ from the bottom.
- Layer #4: Basic White Cardstock cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies square 2-3/4″ x 2-3/4″. Follow these steps:
- Ink the pheasant image using Mango Melody Ink. Place the stamp image facing upwards and add Early Espresso and Cajun Craze Inks over the Mango Melody Ink with Sponge Daubers. Stamp on the white square.
- Stamp the pheasant a 2nd time on a Post-It note. Cut on the outside inked lines to create a mast. You only need to cut the top of the pheasant. Place over the stamped image on the white square to cover the image. Stamp the branch image a few times above the pheasant using Crushed Curry Ink. Stamp some without reinking for a lighter ink color. Remove the Post-It note mask.
- Use a Blender Pen to add Old
- Olive and Calypso Coral Inks below the pheasant.
- Glue square to card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals about 3/4″ from the left side.
- Sentiment: Stamp the sentiment on Cajun Craze Cardstock using Early Espresso Ink. Cut with the 1-3/4″ circle from the Stylish Shapes Die. Glue layered over the white square using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I will now send you off to visit with my talented teammate Melissa Davies. Make sure you follow the hop to visit everyone. Thanks for visiting with all of us!
