Prairie Grass & A Masks Theme!

Welcome to Create With Stamping Friends Creatively Simple! Connie and I create simple cards with a theme each week and for this month, this is our theme:

It’s the last Tuesday of June so that means the last week featuring Masks as our June theme for Creatively Simple! I opted to create a stencil this week and used both pieces as masks. See my card first and then I’ll show you how!

I love, love, love the large stamped image I used from the Prairie Grass stamp set. It looks so pretty against the masked background I created:

Stampin’ Up! Products Used:
- Stamps: Prairie Grass
- Inks: Peach Pie, Lemon Lolly, Early Espresso
- Cardstock: Early Espresso, Basic White, Lemon Lolly
- Tools & Accessories: 2-3/8″ Circle Punch, Blending Brushes, Labeled With Love Punch, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Adhesive-Backed Dragonflies & Birds

Follow these steps to create the masked layers:
- Basic White Cardstock 4-3/4 x 3-1/2 for the stamped layer.
- Basic White Cardstock 5-1/2 x 4-1/4 for the stencil. Cut a hole using the 2-3/8″ Circle Punch. Save both pieces.
- Position the punched circle (mask) over the white cardstock layer and use a Blending Brush to add ink around the circle with Peach Pie Ink. I always started in the center of the circle to remove excess ink and avoid splotched areas of ink.
- Remove the circle and add the white cardstock with the hole (mask) over the white area.
- Use Lemon Lolly Ink with a Blending Brush to fill in the round area.
- That’s it!
Card Recipe:
- Card Base: Early Espresso Cardstock 11 x 4-1/4. Score and fold at 5-1/2.
- Layer 2: Basic White Cardstock 5-1/4 x 4. Glue to card base.
- Layer 3: Follow the stencil/mask instructions above to complete the ink steps. Stamp the large grassy image with Early Espresso Ink to the left. Glue layer to card front with dimensionals.
- Sentiment: Stamp the sentiment with Early Espresso Ink on Lemon Lolly Cardstock. Cut with the Labeled With Love Punch. Glue to the bottom right on the inked layer with dimensionals.
- Bling: Add Adhesive-Backed Dragonflies & Birds to the sunshine!
