Wednesday Wacky-Happy Birthday to Pam!

Just a quick note to let you know that my posts may be sporadic in the next few months. We received some bad news just recently. My mom was diagnosed with Lymphoma a few weeks ago and she just started chemo last week. It will be a six month treatment schedule for her every 4 weeks. I am trying to schedule posts ahead so I won’t miss a day but if I do, you’ll know why. She had a bad weekend this past weekend and ended up in the ER. I keep praying everything will work itself out. I’ve been with her to several of her doctors appointments to make sure she understood everything. My parents are VERY french and sometimes don’t comprehend and add a doctor from India in the mix! We will be visiting with my parents this upcoming weekend. We are fortunate that our business allows us to travel to northern Maine a few times a month and we always stop in and visit as my parents are over 2 hours away. Thanks for your understanding. As I said, I hope to keep my blogging going on a daily basis. I have 2 weeks of posts scheduled at a time right now.

It was my friend Pam’s birthday a few weeks ago and we buy small gifts for each other each year. This year I packaged the small gift in a card that fits inside a box as you will see below:

I originally saw the idea for the box on Angie Leach’s blog using the Simply Scored Scoring Tool. She has step-by-step instructions on her blog. I’ve included the pattern below if you keep reading.

This is a photo of the box I created and I added a belly band around it and a little Velcro circle under the flap to keep it closed. Below is a photo of the matching card that holds the gift:

You untie the bow on the side of the card and reveal the gift, neatly tucked inside the card in a Sweet Treat Cup:

What is a Sweet Treat Cup? Here is the description for you right out of the Stampin’ Up! catalog:

Do
you know the secret for making absolutely irresistible cards? Add
treats! It’s a snap to do with our Sweet Treat cups. Fill a Sweet Treat
cup with goodies and adhere it to the card. You can also purchase Sweet
Treat padded envelopes to hold your creations.

■ Cup fits through 1-3/4″ hole, so it’s sized to work with our 1-3/4″ Circle punch
■ Approximately 1/2″ deep

As you will notice, I have a necklace sitting inside the treat cup. I was planning on taking a photo to show you how I replicated the flowers in the necklace to the flowers I created on my projects but ended up tucking it inside the treat cup and sealed before I thought of it. The treat cup is filled and then you add a piece of cardstock on the back to keep everything intact. Below is the back of the treat cup panel with instructions that read “To Open”. All Pam needed to do was tear the cardstock away to retrieve her gift:

This is a close-up of the flower on the back of the treat cup and also on the front of the box below made with the Autumn Accents Die, Blossom Punch, Boho Blossoms Punch and the 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch. Emboss all the petals and leaves using the Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Folder and secure layers with a Brad:

The card was scored a little differently than your normal card. I scored 2 score lines at 4″ & 4 1/2″ to give  the height needed for the treat cup when the card is closed and I also created a little pocket on the inside to slide the treat cup panel into:

Notice how I glued ribbon all the way around the card with Sticky Strip so that I could make a double-knot? Great way to keep the card closed:
