Wacky Wednesday-Francis’s Workshop!

WARNING: Long post with tutorial!

Last week Francis hosted a workshop in her home. My first demo project was a “Step it up!” project. I showed them how you start with a simple card and add tools and embossing to create a totally stepped up version of that same card. Here are the 2 cards:

The first one was already completed for them to look at, which is a simple card:

And below is the stepped-up version:

I added the “Window Frames Framelits”, embossing with the “Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Folder” and then showed them how to do the “Rock n Roll Technique” with the stamp image.

Card #1 Supplies:

• Cardstock: Sahara Sand, Gumball Green, Whisper White
• Inks: Sahara Sand, Early Espresso
• DSP: In-Color Paper Pack
• Accessories: Brads
• Stamps: Friendship Preserves
• Tools: Stampin’ Dimensionals

Card #2 Supplies:

• Cardstock: Sahara Sand, Gumball Green, Whisper White
• Inks: Sahara Sand, Early Espresso, Gumball Green
• DSP: In-Color Paper Pack

• Tools: Big Shot Machine, Window Frames Framelits, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Lacy Brocade Textured Impressions Folder, Stampin’ Spritzer with Early Espresso Ink Refill, 

Project #2:

This is a triple-fold card that the girls wanted instructions on after I demo’d the card. Follow the steps below:

Step 1:

Using Very Vanilla Cardstock measuring 5 1/2″ x 11″,  score at 1 1/2″, 4 1/8″ and 6 3/4″. Fold on all score lines using your Bone Folder. Fold your score lines so that the folds alternate from mountain fold to valley fold.

Step 2:

You will need 3 pieces of Candlelight Christmas Designer Paper measuring 4″ x 5 1/4″, 2 5/16″ x 5 1/4″ and 1 1/4″ x 5 1/4″. Sponge all edges using a Sponge Dauber and Early Espresso Ink.

Step 3:

Glue your DSP strips to all 3 folds of your card so that they look like the photo above:

Step 4:

Stamp sentiment from  the Open Sleigh Stamp set using Early Espresso Ink on a panel of Very Vanilla Cardstock cut at 4 1/4″ x 3/4″. Snip the end to form a “V” and ink all the edges with a Sponge Dauber and Early Espresso Ink. Glue between the 1st and 2nd fold of  your card. (See completed card photo above Step 1).

Step 5:

Cut a piece of Very Vanilla Cardstock measuring 1 1/2″ x 11″ scored at 3 3/8″ and 7 3/4. Sponge all edges with a Sponge Dauber and Early Espresso Ink.

Step 6:

Fold on score lines and glue the two ends together to form your band as shown above:

Step 7:

Add a piece of DSP to the front of your band measuring 1 1/4″ x 4″ and sponge the edges before you glue. Slide the belly band around your card. Stamp ornament stamp from Ornament Keepsakes Stamp set with Early Espresso Ink on Very Vanilla Cardstock. Cut out using the Holiday Ornaments Framelits and your Big Shot Machine. Glue to the center of your belly band using Stampin’ Dimensionals. Stamp the 2nd stamp image using Gumball Green Ink on Very Vanilla Cardstock and cut out using the 3/4″ Circle Punch. Glue to the center of your ornament with a Stampin’ Dimensional and  a Rhinestone Jewel to the center. Finish off by adding a bow at the top of your ornament!
