Tuesday Tips & Techniques-Simply Scored Background!

May 7, 2013 11 Comments

Good morning readers. Today I am creating a background for you using my “Simply Scored Scoring Tool”. Tell my what you think about the background on this card, isn’t it gorgeous?

I also used the “Secret Garden Framelits Dies” to cut out some flowers. Let’s make a card together. Here’s the steps to creating this card:

Step 1:

Start out by using a cardstock piece measuring 3 3/4″ x 5″. Using your scoring tool, start by scoring on the short side of your cardstock, a line at 1/2″ and add 3 scored lines in a row 1/8″ apart. Once you score your 3rd line, move over 1/2″ and score 3 more lines. Repeat until you get to the end of your cardstock piece.

Step 2:

Leaving your scored cardstock on your score board, use an “Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker” and trace the scored lines as shown above.

Step 3:

Using the “Secret Garden Framelits Dies”, cut out a flower image in different areas of your cardstock.

Step 4:

Cut out some circles using the “1 3/4″ Circle Punch” in different cardstock colors. I used “Baa Breeze, Pink Pirouette and Wild Wasabi Cardstocks”. Glue them on the reverse side of your cardstock piece, over your open flowers and trim the ends. This is what your cardstock piece looks like when flipped over:

Step 5:

Add Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of your cardstock piece and glue to a card base. My card base is “Wild Wasabi Cardstock” cut at 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored in half and folded:

I colored some “Pearl Jewels” using permanent markers to match my cardstock colors and glued them in place. If you don’t have permanent markers, you can leave the pearls to their original color.

The sentiment is from “Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp Set”, inked in “Early Espresso Ink” and cut with the “Word Window Punch”. I glued the sentiment in place using “Stampin’ Dimensionals”. I also stamped some small flowers in the center of each flower and added “Pearl Jewels” to each center.

I just smiled and smiled when I read "Let's make a card together." So sweet, so inviting. The card itself is awesome. I cannot think of a single person who would not love to receive it!
