Good morning! I have a treat for you today. Do you remember this card that I showed you this past weekend using the tie dye technique?
I told you I would show you how to complete this technique and today I am creating a 2nd card with different colors.
You will need 3 colors of ink. Choose colors that range from light to dark. For the tutorial today, I used Certainly Celery, Garden Green and Rich Razzleberry Inks, Water Color Paper, and sponges for each color:
Start with the lightest ink color first which in my sample is Certainly Celery, and sponge circles on your Water Color Paper (Stampin’ Up!’s water color paper is the best) in a circular motion:
Using the 2nd color (Garden Green), add more circles on the inside of each circle, leaving some of the Certainly Celery showing:
And the 3rd darkest color in the center of each circle (Rich Razzleberry):
Now you will need water and either a paint brush or Aqua Painter:
Dip your brush in the water and add a few circles of water to each inked circle. I left the very center intact and drew a circle with my water around the center, then I left a space and drew a larger circle a little further away from the 1st circle:
Repeat for each circle:
Allow to dry. As the circles dry, the tie dye effect gets better and better:
Decorate your card as desired. Have fun!

That paper really is the trick to this technique Sarah. It allows the water to make the ink spread!

Hi Debbie – thanks so much for sharing this technique. I was at Regional in SLC and spent weekend with my niece who is an art teacher. While I was there she took me to a for real tie dye party and I had so much fun I wanted to figure out how to replicate with SU products for a class.
