Tuesday Tips or Techniques-Snow Flurry Leftovers!

First I want to start out the day talking to you about leftovers. I keep all of my pieces of leftover cardstocks because you never know when you are going to use them. I even have a clear pocket sheet protector that holds each individual color of cardstock, labeled with each color and all arranged in magazine holders. I am quite anal…”Type A” anal! I do a lot of punch art and sometimes you just need a teeny tiny piece so…..today is an example of keeping those teeny tiny pieces. Keep reading!

I also want to credit Mercedes Weber for thinking of this idea that I am about to show you for today….it was one of those “duh, why didn’t I think of that” moments! Thanks Mercedes!

By now, you should have all seen the new snowflake die called “Snow Flurry”. If not, this is what it looks like:

 

What a shame to have to throw away the piece above isn’t it? Not only will I show you how to use this scrap piece, but you will also notice  at the top where I’ve used punches a few times to cut out small pieces. What we are focusing on today are the 6 pieces in the middle. Look at the shapes. What do they remind you of? Petals of course!

Hand cut all 6 of the petals using your Paper Snips from the center, as shown below:

You could also use the snowflake shape that you now see above as a stencil!

I stamped a snowflake image below using Primrose Petals Ink on an “Apothecary Accents Framelits” shape:

Using the 6 petals you cut out by hand, place them upside-down in the center of your snowflake. Position them all close together until they all touch and add a “Stampin’ Dimensional” to each petal:

By completing the above step, you will be able to glue your petals down perfectly. This serves as your pattern.

Flip one petal over, remove backing from the “Stampin’ Dimensional” and glue in place:

Continue the above step until all petals have been glued and this is what your flower will look like:

Cool isn’t it? Now all you need to do is decorate the center as you like. I used the “Boho Blossoms Punch” and cut one large flower with “Primrose Petals Cardstock” and glued it in the center with a “Stampin’ Dimensional”. I added an “In-Color Dahlia” in the center glued with a “Mini Glue Dot”:
