Before I start in with my post today, take a look at this store bought card:

This is a store bought card that was purchased by Dave’s daughter for his birthday last month. Right away my eye was drawn to the shapes in the background and the mixture of colors. That little light bulb that visits me occasionally lit up brightly after viewing this card and I sprinted to my stamp room……yes, really! Can you picture that in your head?
I dug out my punches and started out with the 1/2″ Circle Punch and 5 cardstock colors: Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Night of Navy and Crumb Cake for the card base. I punched some holes first with the 1/2″ Circle Punch and then used my Petite Curly Label Punch. I placed the Petite Curly Label Punch positioned so that my “holes” were in different corners each time. Then I started laying down all of my squares in place before gluing:

Now how neat is that? Such a great way to use up scraps also. You just need a small piece of cardstock for each shape. Take a closer peek at my squares below:

Here are all of the supplies I used for today’s project:
- Stamp Set: Perfectly Penned
- Inks: Night of Navy
- Cardstocks: Whisper White, Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green, Night of Navy, Crumb Cake
- Tools: Big Shot Machine, Large Scallop Edgelits, 1/2″ Circle Punch, Petite Curly Label Punch

That's a lot of punching but worth it for the design! Great idea of scrap use and I could do this while watching TV. Love the card.
