Have you ever wished you had embossing powder in every ink color Stampin’ Up! sells? Well, you actually do. How is that possible? Using VersaMark Ink and ANY ink color, you can achieve colored embossing. Here’s how:

The photo above shows you how nice and shiny I embossed with the Cherry Cobbler Ink. I’ll show you how I did this below.
Start out with VersaMark Ink, any color of Classic Ink, cardstock, Clear Embossing Powder, Heat Tool and a stamped image of your choice:

Ink your stamp image in VersaMark Ink first and then without stamping, ink again with the colored ink. Stamp image:

Quickly sprinkle with Clear Embossing Powder. You want to do this before the ink dries:

TIP: Have you noticed in the photo above that I keep my embossing powders in a plastic Glad container? I also always keep a spoon inside the container when I put it away. This allows me to hold my cardstock piece over or inside the container and the loose powder falls right back in the container after I sprinkle with my spoon!

Heat set with your Heat Tool! Voila….colored embossed image!
Have a great day and come back tomorrow for Wacky Wednesday!

This is a great technique Debbie, one I use all the time. It works wonderfully.
Thanks for the technique…. I wondered, does the stamping the VersaMark into the Stampin Up ink pad 'gum up' the SU ink pad?
I was wondering the same thing. I know it won't change the color because it is clear but it is also very sticky. Does it get the colored ink pad sticky?
It does not damage your colored ink pads in the least. It's almost like the VersaMark grabs the color so it sticks to the VersaMark and not your ink pad!
wonderful technique. Thank you
Oh snap Debbie!! De javu!!1 I did this y'day with a NON surfer on a card!!! Then I decided it neede to be darker (don't think my Versa was juicy enuf!!) I used one of the new foam pads in Midnight Muse and NO need for Versamark as the new pads are sooooooo juicy!! Worked perfectly!! Thanks for the visual tute.
Thanks for showing it so well…this is exactly how I love to do this. Like the idea of using our new pads to do this too…may have to try it!
Fabulous idea !! Thank you so much for the heads up !!
But doesn't this wreck your ink pads?
Inking with VersaMark first does not change your ink pads in the least as VersaMark Ink is clear!

Thank you so much for this tip Debbie! It will be one I will use. 😉
I love this idea, but I don't understand. You stamp over the Versamark image with the SU ink pad?
I sent you an email on this!
Wonderful idea
I definitely must give this technique a try! This way I can use all my inks I already own. Thanks for this terrific idea!
Does this work with distress inks as well
I have never tried it with distress ink before since Stampin' Up! doesn't sell a line of distressed inks yet so I have no idea. You'll have to give it a try!
