Tuesday Tips or Techniques!

May 14, 2013 10 Comments

Good Morning to you! I am so happy you stopped by to visit today. I always enjoy your comments and emails! Today I am showing you the “Stained Glass Technique”. If you’ve never heard of it, take a look at my stamped flower image:

You can see it more detailed in the photo below:

This technique is very easily completed. You first emboss a stamped image on Vellum Cardstock. For my image, I inked in VersaMark Ink and sprinkled with Black Embossing Powder and heat set with my Heat Tool. The next step is to flip the Vellum over to the underside and color the image using Stampin’ Write Markers. Try to use vivid colors so that the coloring will show through on the front side. Once your coloring is completed, flip the Vellum over and you now have a stained glass look.

I attached the Vellum by using Brads so that no adhesive is visible that shows through. One other thing I did to my card was add color to my First Edition DSP by using a Brayer.

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • Cardstock: So Saffron, Whisper White, Vellum
  • DSP: First Edition
  • Inks: VersaMark, Riding Hood Red & So Saffron Stampin’ Write Markers
  • Stamps: Teeny Tiny Wishes, Blooming With Kindness
  • Tools: Big Shot Machine, Window Frames Framelits Dies, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Brayer, Festive Paper Piercing Pack, Paper Piercer, Word Window Punch, Heat Tool, Black Embossing Powder
  • Accessories: Brads, Taffeta Ribbon

Thanks for stopping by to visit!

What a fantastic image, it really looks like stain glass, you can even see the raised edges of the black embossing powder on the vellum. Thank you for sharing this awesome card with us.
