Here is what you need to do………..leave me a comment starting today telling me what your favorite holiday tradition is and if you passed down that tradition to your kids. I’ll start……I am continuing a tradition my mom did for us kids and still does today for my siblings and their families that are close in distance. She cooks a wonderful chicken stew for Christmas Eve and we also open gifts on Christmas Eve. I do this with my kids and grand-daughter and then we travel on Christmas day to my parents. It always kinda lessens the stress of doing it all in one day.

We always have fondue on Christmas Eve. My kids loved it and now the grandkids demand it. I always fix a ham or turkey too, but we must have the fondue. I'd love to win your candy. Thanks for the chance.

Yum, chicken stew sounds fabulous. Care to share your recipe? My mom always cooked a ham for Christmas Eve so I've also done that ever since I got married. Of course, I bake several of the same cookies she did too.

My extended family has for the last six or seven years played a kind of a Yankee swap game using a deck of cards to swap gifts that requires you to say Thank you before you can "take" a present from someone. It is surprising with all of us talking and eating and visiting how easy it is to forget to say Thank you and loose the gift you just "stole". We all bring small inexpensive gifts and have a ball! Kids from 5 to 75 play. We love it and everyone looks forward to eat, buying small gifts all year long to use. Love your blog and look forward to it each day! Trudy O.
Every Christmas,since 1973, I've always given our 3 children new pj's as one of their presents. This tradition still continues as our family continues to grow. Three adult children and their spouses, and currently 5 grandchildren. Everyone enjoys the "surprise of what pj's I've chosen for them"! Thank you the chance to win "Bliss".
Beautiful card !! When our son was young, one of his gifts (saved for the last one to open) was a clue that sent him on a treasure hunt to his last gift. It was always enjoyed by the whole family, especially his Grandparents! We have continued to do this with our Granddaughter.

Our Christmas tradition was to spend an afternoon baking. The children and I would make dozens of cookies and candy, then share them with family and neighbors. My daughter still carries on with the baking and sharing. Love your blog and wish you safe and happy holidays.

My husband's mother always made certain Christmas cookies every year and I have continued that tradition throughout the years. It's so hard to pick just one favorite, but I do love that on Christmas Eve the kids get to open one present and it's always a new pair of pj's to sleep in. They always know what it is but that way we all look very nice in our Christmas morning pictures! Even my older kids (19 & 21) want to come spend the night on Christmas Eve to open their gift and wake up on Christmas morning at home.
Ahhhhhhhhhh, my Mom's Christmas pudding. My Gram made it for my Mom when she was growing up, so my Mom made it for us and now that she's 87 and not so spry anymore, I make it every year. I love it and just have to get rid of the leftovers or else I'd gain 20 pounds from eating that alone.
Great idea, Debbie! When my sisters and I lived at home, we always helped Mom make lots of cookies to give away as gifts (and of course some to eat) and now we all pick a Saturday in December to go to Mom & Dad's to bake cookies. Both of my girls love spending this special 'girls only' day with their Grandma and aunts! BTW- You don't need to enter me in the blog candy. I just wanted to share!!
Oh Deb, that card is fabulous. I would love the details. I'm sure I've missed the post along the way. For the past 20 years or so, we open ours on Christmas Eve too, along with a Mexican meal of tacos, burrito's, sides and of course Mexican dips and chips. I do think they only come for the Margarita's, though. Christmas day I cook the traditional 'mom' meal. I so look forward to Christmas Eve… the best day of year for us.
When I was a little girl my mom and I would drive around on Christmas eve and admire everyones beautiful light displays on thier houses and yards,especially the real fancy wealthy neihborhoods. I also do this with my daughter on Chritmas eve now since she was 2 and now she is 8.
