Thank you so much, all of you that have prayed for my husband Dave’s surgery this past week. If you missed an earlier post from me, the last two weeks of our lives were a complete whirlwind for us. We found out on Monday October 1st that Dave had a large tumor on his left kidney and we were in compete shock. Monday, October 15th, Dave underwent surgery to completely remove the left kidney by robotic surgery.
The surgery was three hours later then scheduled. We found out later that our surgeon could see what a mess Dave was at a consultation the week before, so he graciously squeezed him into his schedule. It is totally unheard of for someone to be scheduled this quickly. Dr. Sammon was amazing. It was 10:00 pm by the time I was able to be with Dave in the recovery room after a three hour surgery. Robotic surgery is less invasive so he was transferred to a regular patient room around 11 pm and stayed until mid-afternoon the following day. He was then discharged and we stayed at a nearby hotel for 24 hours, per the request of his doctor. I then drove us four hours back home the following day. The ride home was a little rough as he could feel every nook & cranny we traveled on but we made it and he slept most of the day and has been resting comfortably.
Dr. Sammon called yesterday to let us know the cancer was contained on the kidney only and was indeed Renal Cancer and that the tissues surrounding the kidney had no signs of cancer. Dave is now cancer free and will not require chemo or radiation. He will have to follow up with CT Scans every three months for the first year and once a year thereafter for life.
It is now 4 days post-surgery. Patient is doing well. Still very sore but gaining each day. Also, he is still recovering from knee replacement surgery from nine weeks ago. Poor guy! So again, I want to thank you all for the miracle that happened because of your prayers!

God is good!! So glad to hear about the great outcome for Dave.
15 years ago I had the exact same Renal Cancer in my right kidney and had the exact same outcome. I'll say it again, God is good.
So glad your results were so good Gloria. That's so encouraging!
