Sneak Peek #5

June 25, 2011 3 Comments

How would you like to learn how to make your own coasters? And what if you could design them with any color or pattern using Designer Series Paper? I have lots of greens and burgundy’s in my living room and I also have 3 end tables so I thought I would use the Paisley Petals DSP for my coasters. This DSP is available in the NEW Idea Book & Catalog and all the pages have a variety of different colors that can almost match any decor. Keep reading below and I’ll show you the steps to create these easy coasters. All supplies and item numbers will be listed at the end:

Step 1: Using the Scallop Circle #2 Die, cut out from Cork Sheets, however many coasters you will be creating. In my steps I am creating 3:

Step 2: Using the same die, cut the DSP of choice and for the number of coasters you will be creating:

Step 3: Using the Scallop Circle Die #2 Die, cut double the amount of coasters you are creating. I am creating 3 so I cut 6 of the Big Shot Multipurpose Adhesive Sheets:

Ste 4: Using the Scallop Circle #2 Die, cut the number of coasters you are creating with the Window Sheets:

Step 5: Remove the backing sheet from one Multipurpose Adhesive Sheet and  adhere to your cork sheet. Using your Bone Folder, burnish the top of the multipurpose sheet. This means to rub the top of your sheet with your Bone Folder in order to warm up the adhesive:

Step 6: Remove backing and you will notice the adhesive that remains on your cork sheet. Glue the DSP to the cork:

Step 7: Remove the backing sheet from a second Multipurpose Adhesive
Sheet and  adhere to your DSP layer. Using your Bone Folder, burnish
the top of the multipurpose sheet as you did in Step 5:

Step 8: Glue your Window Sheet on top of your DSP. Use a sheet of paper and cover your Window Sheet so as not to scratch and apply pressure with your Bone Folder to glue in place:

Completed Coasters!!
Notice how thick they turn out:

These would make a great gift set for friends, co-workers, family members or also for those of you out there that are demos, why not create some for your Stampin’ Up! workshop hostess!
