I’ve had quite a few workshops lately where I’ve announced the carry-over of our “Shimmer Paints” from the Holiday Mini Catalog. These paints were so popular with our customers that the sale of these has been extended.
Our shimmer paint adds a vibrant dimension that enhances the look of anything without actually changing its basic appearance. It’s pigment ink, so you can do almost anything with it that you can do with ink—you can stamp with it, cover an entire section of card stock or paper with it, or apply it over a stamped image or Rub-On. Apply it with a sponge or sponge dauber directly to a stamp or paper.

Here are 3 ways to use the Shimmer Paint:
- Use it directly on your stamps: Shake bottle to mix. Using your sponge dauber, dip sponge directly into the lid of the bottle. Notice the sponge dauber fits perfectly in the lid so you don’t end up with an over-abundance of paint on your sponge. Sponge directly on your stamp to cover. Stamp as you would with ink. You can also use your sponge dauber to sponge the edges of your cardstock to add shading.
- Using a small container (I use a small plastic artist’s palette), mix equal amounts of shimmer paint and reinker. I usually start out with about 5 drops of reinker to 5 drops of shimmer paint. Stir with a toothpick. Again, sponge on your stamp. This creates a colored, shimmery paint that dazzles!
- Make your own shimmer mist. I purchased the small travel size spray bottles at a department store. I then mixed 1 oz. of rubbing alcohol to 10 drops of shimmer mist. Make sure you shake bottle well before you spray your cardstock. You can spray multiple ways. Spray the whole background of your card to add glitz………spray a small piece of cardstock before you adhere it to your card………..or, using stencils, spray multiple layers to create a stenciled card. Notice: your cardstock will curl when the spray is added but will dry flat. If you want lots of shimmer, spray thin layers at a time and allow to dry between layers. Also, make sure your alcohol is 70%. Others have tried 90% because it dries faster but the mixture ends up clumping.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me. We are not sure if this is “while supplies last” or due to popularity, if the shimmer paint will be available in the new catalog in July. Don’t miss your chance now, purchase your shimmer paints today. SHOP NOW!
