As most of you know, I was away for a bit in October while my hubby had surgery to remove his left kidney which had a cancerous tumor living on it. His surgery was on October 15th and his surgeon successfully removed the whole kidney, with no other signs of cancer. Dave did not need any further chemo or radiation. You my viewers, prayed along with us and our prayers were answered.
Today’s card was created using the Ribbon Of Courage stamp set and coordinating Support Ribbon Framelits Dies:
I had to actually look up the color for Kidney (Renal) Cancer and found out the color is orange. Just to update you, Dave is still quite sore from the incisions. His surgery was performed by a robot. His surgeon actually sat right beside him with controls to complete the robotic surgery. Dave has three small cuts where the probes were inserted on the left-hand side of his stomach, all in a vertical line and then a four inch incision where the kidney was removed on the far left at waist level.
It was actually quite interesting to find out the whole kidney removal procedure. Once the probes were inserted into his body with three small cuts, one probe cut the kidney, one probe completed the procedure and one actually “bagged” the kidney with a bag and the kidney was pulled out from the four inch incision. Isn’t that amazing?
I copper-embossed the ribbon shape on Paper Pumpkin Cardstock and cut it out with the die. The copper embossing is so striking and pretty and shiny. I also copper-embossed the sentiment on Whisper White Cardstock and cut it out with the oval die from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies. Of course I had to add a little bit of bling by adding a few of the copper Leaves Trinkets. My background layer was embossing using the Softly Falling Embossing Folder:
Thanks again to all of you that sent cards, well-wishes and best of all, for your prayers. Dave is now back to his physical therapy for his knee replacement surgery in August and is gaining every day. It’s been hard for him to recover from two tough surgeries just eight weeks apart but we are taking it one day at a time! I appreciate all of you!
