The Paper Players-PP59

August 16, 2011 10 Comments

Tickled Pink is the color challenge for this week at The Paper Players. Visit their website to view all of their beautiful inspiration samples. The colors below are what we are using:

I wanted to try something different today. Using the Petal Cone Die, I created a “fan card”. I’ve seen a few of these in blog land. I added a touch of embossed white to help make the pinks pop:

The sentiment is also embossed and cut out with the Decorative Label Punch. If you would like to learn how to layer the punch, click HERE for a step-by-step tutorial:

I had a lot of fun using the pinks and the Delicate Doilies Stamp Set. 3 out of the 4 stamps coordinate perfectly with one of our punches. And notice how the delicate designs just pop when you add embossing powder to the mix!

Fan Card Supplies:

  • Tools: BigShot Machine, Petal Cone Die, Heat Gun, Decorative Label Punch
  • Inks: Rose Red, Regal Rose, Pretty In Pink, Whisper White Craft, VersaMark, Sponge Dauber
  • Accessories: Glimmer Brads, White Embossing Powder
  • Stamp Sets: Delicate Doilies, My Friend

UPDATE: I’ve had lots of questions on this one! You can create
this “fan” card in two ways. First you can create it so it folds flat to fit in an
envelope–by not gluing the sides together or create it like I did by gluing the petal cone pieces
together so it’s all one piece. The second option allows you to hang it up or placed on a shelf
with an easel.

How did I create this? What I did was cut 3 petal cones from the die, I cut off
the tabs on the sides and then cut each cone in half on the score line
so I ended up with 6 individual “cone” pieces. I glued the individual scallop
pieces on the backs of 5 of them in a different color and then assembled them together with the
Glimmer Brad on the bottoms. I only used 5 of the 6 individual cone pieces that were cut out. I then added a little glue
to the sides and stuck them together. I folded the little tiny triangles that remain at the bottom once the glimmer brad is inserted so that the fan lays flat.

Wow, this is beautiful. What a great idea. Are the die pieces attached to a card stock card? So clever. And oh do I love the doilies. Unique and eye catching.

Debbie, what an amazing card. It reminds me of a Spanish fan. Fabulously creative and the design works so well with the dsp. Great job!
