Merry Monday Challenge 189!

January 25, 2016 13 Comments

Good Morning Everyone! I hope you had a great weekend and ready for a new week. The start of a new week means a new challenge at Merry Monday and I have the pleasure of being our hostess this week. When I decided on this week’s challenge, I really wanted to challenge myself so look at what I did:

I am challenging you all to a “One-Layer card”…do you know HOW HARD that is? I do not like a lot of clutter in my cards but I do love my layers so yes, this was a challenge for me. I think I did do good though. What do you think of this card?

My card base is a piece of watercolor paper measuring 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″ and folded in half at 4-1/4. I then placed Post-It Notes at the top in a straight line and that’s where I started my sponging. I used Island Indigo Ink and started at the top and worked my way down to get it lighter. I then added Pool Party Ink and did the same thing.  I did not want my color to go down too far so I added ink to my Sponge Dauber very sparingly.

Once all of my sponging at the top was done, I removed the Post-It Notes and stamped the trees from the White Christmas stamp set repeatedly using Memento Black Ink. I then added a little more sponged ink below the snowbanks.

The sentiment is from the Versatile Christmas stamp set.

I hope you will visit my teammates today at Merry Monday. I can’t wait to see their one-layers cards! Thanks for stopping by to visit me today!

Awesome ombre sponging; and I loved the fact that you've left a portion open at the top. Pretty scenery! 🙂 Love it!

This is an awesome wintery scene! I loved the sponged skyline. All your Merry Mondayers came up with great ideas one how to make one layer be spectacular. All sorts of things that that never came to my mind!
