Kaitlynn’s 5th Birthday Party!

March 25, 2013 10 Comments

Kaitlynn’s 5th birthday party is now over. What a great time she and her Pre-K friends had. I’m sure they all crashed early to bed that night as all the kids were non-stop. We held the birthday party at our local firehouse as they have a kitchen, meeting room and a large open space. My hubby Dave is a volunteer firefighter so he moved all of the firetrucks outside so we had a huge space to play games.

This is the birthday girl:

I made this cake and used a few of her dolls as decorations. All the buttons you see on the cake were all hand-made using candy disks that I melted into a silicone mold. Very time consuming but so worth it.

The invite:

I used my Stampin’ Up! punches to create Laloopsy and some buttons. The wording was printed on my printer first and then cut out with the Window Frames Framelits Dies. All Stampin’ Up! supplies were used.

I made 32 of these with the help of my daughter and granddaughter. Kaitlynn loves to use my punches!

Cupcake Sticks:

I found these on someone else’s blog when I searched for Laloopsy birthday party ideas:

The Free printable is located HERE Thanks so much to Sarah! I printed a few sheets and then cut out each image with a circle punch and layered them all with a scallop circle shape. Candy buttons were added to the cupcakes to match the cake:

Dig out your circle punches and create buttons, buttons, buttons. I first traced the hoop on the outside using Pretty In Pink Cardstock followed by tracing on the inside with Whisper White Cardstock. I hand cut both pieces of cardstock and layered and glued them to the front of the hoop. I glued gathered fabric around to the outside of the hoop in the back. I then added all of my buttons to form a “5”. Some of the buttons were glued using Stampin’ Dimensionals:

The banner:

I am so sad to say I used a “Retired” die from Stampin’ Up! to create this banner. This is one of those dies I will never get rid of as I use it so often to create party things with:

The lollipop pot:

I purchased a terracotta pot and painted it blue and added more cardstock buttons. I then added a styrofoam ball inside the pot and poked all the lollipops around it until the whole foam ball was covered.

My daughter Jessica made the plastic ware decorations, again using Stampin’ Up! punches and a real button in the center of each one:

Pin the bow on Laloopsy game:

This was created with my Silhouette Cameo Machine. I glued everything on a poster board. One of the kids moved all the bows around by the time I took a minute to take a picture of the end results. They had fun with this game.

Button Throw Game:

The kids took turns throwing buttons into a basket!

Hoop Toss Game:

The cake:

And the last game they played was a Laloopsy Pinata!

I had never created a pinata before so this was my first attempt. When I googled the directions, it was suggested to use 4 layers of newspaper strips and glue made with flour and water. It sure was tough to crack. I think next time I would opt for 3 layers.

And of course I can’t leave you today without posting the card I made for Kaitlynn again. I posted this earlier but in case you missed it, here it is again:

Thanks Bronwny. I started on all of these projects about 2 months before the birthday party to make sure I had them all completed in time. I was sick the week before her birthday so it was worth it to have an early start. Kaitlynn had a great time!

Thanks Margaret. Our punches make creating buttons so easy. I'll have a tutorial soon on how I made them!
