Happy Birthday in Heaven to my Dad today. My Dad has been gone for four years now. He was diagnosed with COPD about 7 years prior. I always like to take this time to urge you to quit smoking if you are a smoker. COPD is a terrible disease. It was hard to watch my Dad have to depend on oxygen. He made so many hospital trips the last few years by ambulance. The winter months always seemed to lead to pneumonia. My Dad was a sweet man who loved his family. He was a good man and we all miss him. He would have been 84 today.

Although my Dad is no longer with us, I always create a birthday card for him and our May Paper Pumpkin Kit was perfect to use just for that! My Dad was a mechanic so we grew up helping him in the garage. His business was on the same property as our home. We also pumped gasoline for customers as we had a Chevron gas pump. My poor Mom always had grease & oil to contend with. I loved to rearrange all of the wrenches, screwdrivers and tools that my Dad used. And keeping the shelves with oil and lubricants stocked with all the labels facing the front. Yes, I was anal even back then as a kid.
With being a mechanic and always wearing hats, it was not uncommon for my Dad to come into the house with his hat all askew from working on vehicles and farming tractors. We used to get a kick out of his crooked hats. This kit was meant for my Dad, especially that cute little hat.

Here are my layers:
- Card Base: Night Of Navy Cardstock 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″. Score and fold at 4-1/4″.
- Layer #2: Soft Suede Cardstock 5-1/4″ x 4″. Glue to card base.
- Layer #3: Basic White Cardstock 4-3/4″ x 3-1/2″.
- Stamp the sentiment at the right about 2″ from the bottom using Night Of Navy Ink.
- Stamp the hat image repeatedly using Soft Suede Ink.
- Glue to card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Hat: Stamp the hat image on Soft Suede Cardstock using Night Of Navy Ink. Hand cut with Paper Snips and glue to card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
- Dad: Stamp the Dad sentiment on Basic White Cardstock using Night Of Navy Ink. Cut close to the lettering and glue to hat.
Tomorrow I’ll show you more alternative projects I created with the May kit. In the meantime, make sure you are subscribed to the June kit by June 10th to receive this:
