I haven’t played with my Gift Bag Punch Board in quite some time. I was on-the-computer-way-too-much a few days ago and found a photo of a project I fell in love with on Pinterest. Susy Cote (Hi Susy!) is who the inspiration came from. Not sure if she is the original creator or not? She does not have a blog so I figured out how to create one of the bags on my own. I’m visual like that!

The area on the punch board that has the scoring for the pleated look is 2″ wide so 2″ x 4 (4 sides to the bag) = 8″. I then added 1/2″ for the side flap. So my designer paper is 8-1/2″ wide to accommodate the 4 sides plus the flap. For the length I used 8″. So my piece of designer paper measures 8-1/2″ x 8″.

See all the score lines on each side of the gift bag? If you look at your Gift Bag Punch Board (photo below if you scroll), you line up the 8″ side of the designer paper up on the start line (vertical) and using the scoring tool that comes with the board, trace the triangle and score lines and punch the tab. Move over so that the last score line that was traced and was furthest away from the start line, now becomes the start line. Trace the triangle and score lines and punch the tab. Repeat 2 more times. Once you have all your score lines made, make sure you also score the horizontal line across the whole 8-1/2″ side. Now you need to move to the other side of your punch board with is the punching end of the board to punch 2 holes on each panel. So the end result when you are all done scoring and punch, is that you have four of the triangle scored areas from your punch board all lined up in a row!
Fold on all score lines and fold on the triangle score lines also. Add Tear & Tape to the tab at the end and glue to the other end to form the 4-sided bag. Glue the 4 tabs for the underside of the bag in place.

Now all that’s remaining is to add some Crushed Curry Baker’s Twine through the holes, pull and tie into a bow. This was so quick and easy….of course it is with the punch board!

I created the coordinating card by cutting a piece of Soft Suede Cardstock measuring 3″ x 4-1/2″. Score in the center at 2-1/4″ and fold. The designer paper measures 2″ x 2-3/4″. Once the tag is added to the card, the card measures 3″ x 3″ to fit in our Square 3-1/8″ x 3-1/3″ Envelopes. I used the Envelope Liners Framelits Dies to cut a piece of designer paper to add to the inside flap.
The tags for both projects are created the same using the Honeycomb Happiness and Sunburst Sayings stamp sets. I stamped using Soft Suede Ink and colored the bows with a Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Write Marker. The top of both tags was cut with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch. The tag for the card measures 2″ x 3″ and the one for the gift bag measures 2″ x 3-3/4″.
Did you notice the yellow-colored Honeycomb Embellishments? I colored the white ones with a Spritzer filled with 10 drops of Daffodil Delight Re-inker mixed with rubbing alcohol. How fun!
