TGIF! I am so glad you are here Friday, ugh! Dave and I are totally exhausted as we’ve been working so hard these past 3 weeks trying to catch up with our business. We went on vacation for 10 days this month and boy did that put a damper on things! No regrets though. I had a bad meltdown last week because I was so tired but am now back on track.
So on to today’s card. I had a special request from Lisa, who purchases cards from me periodically. Her grandson is turning 2 in mid-June and she hunted everywhere for a “Curious George” card and could not find anything to her liking. She emailed me the request and this is what I came up with:

My “Curious George” had to be small to look just right with the size of the tree and I kept pondering where to place the number “2”, from the stamp set Memorable Moments. Then my little light bulb went off and my thoughts were to have him holding it in one of his hands (paws?). That works don’t you think?

The only altering I had to do by hand was the mouth shape as the Small Oval Punch was still a little too large. And what an easy way to create a tree. Punch a bunch of different sized circles in Certainly Celery Cardstock and emboss them with the Polka Dots Embossing Folder. I also sponged all the edges with Old Olive Ink:

The trunk of the tree was hand-cut and then embossed with the Woodgrain Embossing Folder. I thought I would sneek in the Cloudy Day Embossing Folder for the background even though it is now retiring.
Do you like the happy birthday flag? It comes from a brand new stamp set called Banner Greetings and I hand-cut by leaving a little bit of white around the edges. It was inked with Real Red Ink.
Here are the punches I used for “Curious George:
- Head: 3/4″ Circle Punch
- Ears: Circle from the Punch Pack, Hand-held 1/4″ Circle Punch
- Eyes: Hand-held 1/4″ Circle Punch, Hand-held 1/8″ Circle Punch, Signo Gel Pen for the white
- Mouth: Small Oval Punch altered to fit, hand-drawn mouth & nostrils
- Arms & Legs: Bird Punch
- Hands & Feet: Owl Punch
- Belly: Small Oval Punch, 1/2″ Circle Punch
The cardstock I used was Soft Suede & Sahara Sand. I hope you like my “Curious George”. Lisa thought he was adorable. Happy Birthday to Lisa’s grandson!
