I was contacted recently, to create a graduation card for a college student. The person that requested the card did not know what the school colors were so I googled the school and found that their school color were green and yellow. So this card was born:

I had created a card just like this years ago and just updated the colors. The original idea for the card was one that I had found on Pinterest. I did not have numbers that would fit in my 1″ squares so I used my Silhouette Machine and Silver Foil Sheets to cut them out. I also used the Silver Foil Sheet for my sentiment cut with the Sunshine Wishes Dies:

For my tassle, I used cardstock cut with Fringe Scissors and then folded the cardstock over in the center. I tied Silver Baker’s Twine that I dyed with Tranquil Tide Re-inker, around the card twice and glued to the inside of the card. I added a layer of Whisper White Cardstock on the inside to cover the twine.

I'm sure with the awkward shape this may be difficult to do, but can you provide the dimensions of the hat? I need to create some graduation party invitations and I like this (making a smaller one won't be any better–even with tutorials I have killed so much cardstock trying to make a mortarboard hat in past years LOL) Thanks!! 🙂
Hi Heather, it is actually the collar of the cape with a tassel attached. All I did was cut a piece of cardstock 5-1/2" x 4-1/4" and glue it in the position you see and trimmed off the ends.
Awesome Card! Found it!
