Good morning and welcome to a new challenge this week at Create with Connie & Mary. The challenge for this week is actually going to be available to you for 2 weeks. This is because our challenges run on Thursday’s and next Thursday is Thanksgiving! This week’s challenge has 2 elements: a sketch and to create a shaped card:

My Shaped Card:

I decided to go CAS this week (clean and simple) but with lots of layering on my flower. The shape of my card is from the “Window Frames Framelits”. I cut 2 using the framelits and scored the top of one piece about 1″ and glued the fold to the back of my 2nd piece and cut off the bottoms to make the card flat so that it would sit open.

Let’s take a peek at the banner:

I inked 2 banners from the “Decorate a Daisy Stamp Set” in “Daffodil Delight Ink” and “Night of Navy Inks” and hand-cut the both of them. I slipped both banners under my flower and added a “Stampin’ Dimensional” in-between them. Notice how just a little bit of paper piercing can add so much to a card?

For the flower image, I stamped 2 of the largest flower in “Daffodil Delight Ink” and hand-cut. When I layered them on top of each other, I used “Stampin’ Dimensionals” to give height to my smaller flower. The 2nd layer is “Baja Breeze Cardstock” cut with the “1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch” and glued in place. For the final layer, I stamped the small circle image in “Night of Navy Ink” and cut out with the “1” Circle Punch” added a “Brad” to the center and then glued it in place with a “Stampin’ Dimensional”. Before gluing the flower to my card front, I added a strip of notes from the “Music Notes Standard Wheel” inked in “Night of Navy Ink“.

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:

  • Stamps: Bring On The Cake, Music Notes Standard Wheel, Decorate a Daisy
  • Inks: Daffodil Delight, Night of Navy
  • Cardstock: Whisper White, Baja Breeze
  • Accessories: Brads
  • Tools: Paper Piercer, Stampin’ Pierce Mat, Essentials Paper Piercing Pack, Paper Snips, Big Shot Machine, Window Frames Framelits, Stampin’ Dimensionals, 1 1/4″ Scallop Circle Punch, 1″ Circle Punch

What a lovely card. You're right – the piercing really adds another dimension. Love the music notes detail. I'm really looking forward to working with the DT for the next few months.

What a happy card! I love how you used the music note wheel to put on the stripes. Very clever! Great card!

Hey Debbie! Beautiful clean and simple card – I agree the paper piercing really adds to your card (I must remember to add some to my cards!)
