CCMC-208!

June 28, 2012 13 Comments

One of the cardstock colors I have the most difficulties with is “Basic Gray”, why would I, because it really is just a lighter version of black, right? The color challenge this week at Create with Connie & Mary is shown below:

I’m still not too sure about my card. The gray is so subtle and it just seems to make the Pumpkin Pie and Real Red jump right out at you! Did you feel it too? I love the embossed image on my Basic Gray Cardstock piece and I used some new goodies, can you spot them?

Card Supplies:
  • Cardstock: Whisper White, Basic Gray, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie
  • Inks: Whisper White Craft, Pumpkin Pie
  • Tools: Modern Label Punch, 1″ Circle Punch, Designer Label Punch, Apothecary Accents Framelits, Oval Accents Die, Heat Tool, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Sponge Dauber
  • Accessories: Pearl Jewels, White Embossing Powder
  • Stamps: Layered Labels, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Betsy’s Blossoms
Hop on over to Create with Connie & Mary to visit with the other girls! Don’t forget you can still sign up for the New Catalog Subscription Edition. These projects will be available to you for one whole year!

I love how the embossed image looks against the Basic Grey, too! And I love how you layered all the different images. Very pretty!

It's great! Basic Grey is one of my favorite colors — so sophisticated in so many settings. But it is more challenging if you're going for high contrast or using it with bolder colors, as in this challenge. Good for you for going outside your box. And the embossing is stunning.

It is different from your usual style, but fun and different. I'm getting more used to using the Basic Gray and it does pop the other colors. I do love your white embossing on the gray – it really makes it look very rich!

Beautiful card and I love those new framelits! The white on gray really stands out and looks so elegant.
