Blessed Easter!

March 18, 2014 9 Comments

Hi Everyone! How about an Easter card today? Can you believe how late Easter is this year? Sometimes it falls in March or the beginning of April but this year April 20th, wow! I actually created this card way back in January when the new Occasions Catalog debuted because I fell in love with the Blessed Easter stamp set. I love to color and this stamp image was right up my alley. Take a look:

I cut two scallop oval shapes using the Ovals Collection Framelits Dies and Bermuda Bay Cardstock. I took one of the ovals and scored an inch from the top and folded. I then glued the one inch portion to the 2nd oval to create my card base. I then started layering from there. My next oval is using Coastal Cabana Cardstock embossed with the Square Lattice Embossing Folder:

For the stamped image layer I used Watercolor Paper and Jet Black StazOn Ink. I water-colored using a Blender Pen, Wild Wasabi Ink, Coastal Cabana Ink and Sahara Sand Ink. Did you notice the slight shadow around the whole image? That’s where I used the Sahara Sand to make everything “pop”. I glued this layer in place on my card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I completed the card by adding a few Pearl Jewels and a bow using Wild Wasabi 1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon!
Card Supplies:
  • Cardstock: Bermuda Bay, Coastal Cabana, Watercolor Paper
  • Inks: StazOn Jet Black, Wild Wasabi, Coastal Cabana, Sahara Sand
  • Accessories: Pearl Jewels,  1/4″ Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon
  • Stamps: Blessed Easter
  • Tools: Big Shot Machine, Square Lattice Embossing Folder, Ovals Collection Framelits Dies, Blender Pen, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Mini Glue Dots

I love this card and the colours that you have used, but am curious how you have got the card to stand up.

I described the steps I used to make my card base under the first picture Sally. Here is another card I made in the same way that has a photo that explains it:

I really like the square lattice layer under the tulips. Wonderful texture to contrast the florals. Love the new head shot! Showcases your eyes very nicely. 🙂

Beautiful Easter card Debbie. I do the same thing when I used any of the dies to make a card base. I really like the look of the whole cut out rather than a straight edge. Your coloring is so pretty.

So loving the colors that you chose! I need to use my full Oval set and this is wonderful inspiration for a lovely Easter Egg card!
