Today I am showing you a card I made and the tutorial on how to create it. The card below is completed using the “Black Magic Stamping Technique”:
I don’t recall where I first learned about this new stamping technique. The reason it is called “Black Magic Stamping” is because you start out with a black piece of cardstock. You can also substitute any dark colored cardstock if you desire.
The sentiment is from the “Teeny Tiny Wishes” stamp set and is stamped with “Soft Suede” ink, cut out with the “Small Oval Punch” followed by the “Large Oval Punch” and finally with the “Scallop Oval Punch” in “Perfect Plum” cardstock. The first punched layer is adhered with “Stampin’ Dimensionals” for height and I also added a solo brad.
Close up of the “Black Magic Stamping”. Keep reading and you’ll find out how to do this on your own:
Step 1: Using a piece of “Basic Black” cardstock, stamp an image using “White Craft Ink”. Make sure this image is perfectly dried before attempting to continue. If you are impatient like I sometimes am, use your “Heat Gun” to dry the image.
Step 2: Once your image is perfectly dry, color on top of the white image using Stampin’ Up!’s “Watercolor Pencils”. It is amazing how the color just flows over the white ink. For this card I used 2 shades of purple, a light shade of brown and one shade of green. The picture below shows the green colored pencil I used.
Step 3: Continue coloring using the 2 purples. I alternated the flowers of the stamped image. I then added the brown to all of the branches.
Step 4: Now that the entire image has been colored, you are going to add some highlights to make the image pop by adding little white dots. The pen I used is pictured below and it is called a “Uni-Ball Signo Pen”. This is available in the catalog, item # 1050221.
Notice how I added my dots at the tips of the leaves, in the center of each flower, and anywhere else that parts of the images meet.
Here is a close-up of the dots:
Step 5: Complete your card!!
My background color is “Perfect Plum” and I added a small piece of “Whisper White” cardstock that I ran through my “Big Shot” using the “Perfect Polka Dots Impressions Folder”. The punch used on the edge is the “Pinking Hearts Punch” (no longer available from the Occasions Mini Catalog). I added a very thin outline of color using “Green Gable” to the black cardstock layer.
Today is also the day that the “Last Chance List” will be posted. Check my blog later and I’ll have the list posted for you. For those of you that are my customers, I will be emailing you the list also. Remember, these are all the retiring items to make room for new items debuting July 1st. This is on a “while supplies last” list so order early.
