When I was young, my dad use to drive the whole family, which included mom and four kids to Birch Point Lake every weekend. My parents owed a business as my dad was a mechanic, so once he had the camper delivered on Friday to the camp ground lot and all set up, he would drive back home and work while my mom supervised us. He would then join up with us again on Saturday after his work day was over with. What fun times we had swimming, playing baseball, croquet and frisbee. We were like four little fish as we spent most of our time in the lake and boy did we ever get dark from all of the sun! There was even a small chapel for all of the campers that we all went to on Sunday morning.
My card for today is a beach bag for a beach bum:

I did not add a sentiment to this card as it looks perfect without one. The little clasp even has Velcro under the flap to keep it closed. And what about the anchor? I embossed it by first inking my stamp with VersaMark Ink and re-inked with Soft Suede Ink. I then stamped my image which stays wet because of the VersaMark so I was able to add Clear Embossing Powder and set with my Heat Tool:

A little Baker’s Twine bow for my anchor and 2 mini flowers with the Punch pack. I embellished the clasp and two flowers with Candy Dots:

Stampin’ Up! Supplies:
- Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Melon Mambo
- DSP: Gingham Garden
- Inks: VersaMark, Soft Suede, Melon Mambo, Crumb Cake Stampin’ Write Marker
- Accessories: Baker’s Twine, Candy Dots
- Tools: Big Shot Machine, Ovals Collection Framelits Dies, Large Oval Punch, Punch Pack, Heat Tool, Clear Embossing Powder, Mini Glue Dots, Sponge Daubers
- Misc: Velcro Dots

Love the card too. I'm looking forward to the new SU catalogue…not long now!!
Thanks Sarah, it must be so difficult seeing all the new stuff and not being able to order yet. We are ordering from the Holiday Catalog tomorrow!
Love, love, love this little bag!!!!! Oh my goodness, it's precious!! This could make a fantastic party invitation too!! Thank you for sharing your amazing ideas with us. And your Summer Vacations as a child sound indeed fantastic.
I had the same thoughts also Maria, about the invitation. It would even serve as a diaper bag! Thanks so much!
Adorable!
Thanks so much Lisa!
Sooo cute! I love this bag/card Debbie. Could you do a video on it?
Ter 😉
Hi Ter, I'm sorry as I do not do videos. The card is hand-drawn and cut and I listed all the supplies I used. Hope that helps. Thanks so much!
Ter, I've put together a tutorial that will be posted on July 9th. No video but step-by-step instructions. Be on the lookout!
Super duper adorable! My girls are headed up to their grandparents' cottage for a week. I imagine their days will be nearly as idyllic as those you described from your childhood. Great memories are forever.
Oooh, I hope they have a great time Chellie, great memories for sure. Thanks for visiting!
Thanks so much Chellie, I hope your girls have a wonderful time and make wonderful memories!
What a darling card. I do hope you do a video on it. Thank you for all of your wonderful ideas and posts.
Thanks! I don't do videos. The card was hand-cut and the handles are from the Ovals Framelits Dies if that helps!
Fabulous – will consider making one of these after I complete my convention swaps…love it and am crazy about all ginghams!
Good luck with all of your swaps Carol. Hope you have a great time!
Does your beach bum bag open up like a card?? Or is it just a display piece as it is?? It is gorgeous and I just love the colors too. It looks kinda like a real cloth handbag that I owned many, many, many moons ago!! Funny seeing it's twin on your blog. Thank you for all of your hard work and for the inspiration!! Have fun at convention!!
Hi Cynthia, it does open like a card. As I told someone else above, look for a tutorial on my blog on July 9th!
This is such a fun and fabulous shape! Perfect for summer!!
Thanks Margaret, it was really fun to make!
