Good Morning! So nice of you to visit me today! Have you ever heard of the work “Batik”? Do you know what it means? Batik is a wax dying technique using fabric. It is made by drawing designs on fabric using dots and lines of hot
wax, which resists dyes and therefore allows the artisan to color
selectively by soaking the cloth in one color, removing the wax with
boiling water and repeating if multiple colors are desired.
So for today’s card, I am using the “Acrylic Batik Technique” and I’ll even show you how if you’d like to learn. This is the card I made using this technique:
Notice the multiple colors I used in completing my background? I embossed the Hardwood Stamp image for the background on my card above so that multiple colors peek through.
Step 1:
Using a piece of Whisper White Cardstock measuring 3 3/4″ x 5″, emboss the Hardwood stamp image using VersaMark Ink and Clear Embossing Powder. The photo below shows you the embossed cardstock piece:
Step 2:
You will need 3 colors of acrylic paint. I first picked the ink colors I wanted to use when stamping and matched the paint colors as close as I could get. Open the cover and splatter all 3 colors here and there on your cardstock piece as shown below:
Step 3:
Using an old credit card, spread the color until the cardstock is covered. The photo below shows the completed background:
Once my paint was dry, I used a moist tissue to wipe off the paint from the embossing. Here is a close-up of the colors:

Loved the technique on the Hardwood sheet. Thanks for showing us how it is done. Noticed you listed Secret Garden Die Cuts and part of your supplies and can't for the life of me figure out where you used them at. Thanks for sharing your work with us every day.
WOW!! Debbie, I've never heard of this technique but it looks simple enough and not to messy. I love the look of the Hard Wood background after you spread the paint and wipe the excess, it looks like real wood. My granddaughter is taking a ceramics class so I will borrow some of her paints to give this a try.

PS. I'm also trying to figure out where did you use the Secret Garden dies, I don't recognize any of the shapes in your beautiful card.
For those of your wondering about the list of supplies, I did not use the Secret Garden Framelits Die on this card but the framelits do coordinate with the stamp set!
